My name is Matthew Bissett, I am a commercial, P.R. and event photographer.
I started studying photography at Stevenson College, Edinburgh. Whilst there, I gained valuable knowledge of black & white processing and development, studio and environmental portraiture, and still life photography. I left this intensive one year course with both Scottish Standard Grades and Highers in photography. After Stevenson I was accepted to study photography at Napier University. While completing this BA (Hons.) degree I developed further skills in digital photography, colour processing, advanced photoshop, studio portraiture, etc. The culmination of our major projects required each student to develop professional mounting and framing skills. My final year project was exhibited both in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
I have worked in the photographic field with Snappy Snaps, Edinburgh, a processing and developing store, and with Historic Scotland. During my time with the government agency, I worked in the image library, filing, categorising, and indexing images, while also assisting the photographers on several shoots, both in the studio and on location. Over the last four years I have also worked as a freelance photographer for Ede & Ravenscroft Photography, one of the UK's largest graduate photography businesses. This requires me to set up a studio, balance lighting, arrange and photograph graduates and their families, all to a highly specific professional standard. I have also completed several commercial photography assignments for a broad range of clients and also for other Edinburgh based photographers.
